Becoming a Substitute Teacher
Thank you for your interest in becoming
a substitute in the Kershaw County School District.
QUALIFICATIONS: To be employed as a substitute teacher, an
applicant must have a high school diploma or GED. All applicants
will go through a SLED criminal background check before being
approved for hire as a substitute. The first step to become a
substitute teacher is to complete and submit the substitute
application to the Human Resource Department located at 2029
West DeKalb Street, Camden.
When submitting your application you
must bring the following with you:
- Completed application
- Completed reference forms (3)
- TB skin test results (You have
30 days from the training to get this completed and
returned)
- W-4 form
- SC W-4 form
- Direct Deposit Authorization
- I-9 form
- Copy of driver’s license
- Copy of social security card
- Copy of transcript, degree or
diploma
The next step to become a substitute
teacher is to attend Substitute Teacher Training class. When all
of the required information has been submitted please contact
Margaret Pennebaker at (803) 432-8416 regarding scheduling for
the next available session of the Substitute Training Class.
