KCSD 2011-12 budget notebook now
available online
January 12, 2012
The Kershaw County School District
has posted its complete 2011-12 consolidated budget notebook
online to help provide a comprehensive look at the budget
process.
“We have provided this spiral bound
notebook to our school board members in the past,” said Kershaw
County School District Superintendent Frank Morgan. “They have
found the information to be very helpful so we thought that the
general public would too. It’s a very comprehensive look at data
that is used to make budget decisions.”
With over 100 pages, the notebook
contains both district and individual school information. Local,
state and federal funding sources are listed as well as grants.
The General Fund budget summaries are listed both by program and
object for every location. Information on the School Food
Service budget and individual school’s extracurricular budgets
is also included.
In addition, the notebook contains
the mission statement, enrollment, building capacity and a
detailed list of employee positions for all schools and the
district office. Each section also contains a listing of
administrative contacts and website addresses.
“We work extremely hard to be
transparent with our financial information, and this is an
extension of those efforts,” Morgan said. “I commend our
financial department for putting all of these details into a
very user friendly document. This notebook represents hours and
hours of work.”
The 2011-12 KCSD General Fund budget
totals more than $63.5 million. The budget notebooks for both
2011-12 and 2010-11 as well as other KCSD budget information are
available at http://www.kershaw.k12.sc.us/district/finance/.
