Local citizens can share their
thoughts on priorities for the 2012-13 Kershaw County School
District budget through a new survey on the district’s website.
“We have been through very
challenging financial times and the school board has had to make
a lot of difficult budget reductions,” Kershaw County School
District Superintendent Frank Morgan said. “We are in no way
‘out of the woods’ yet but the revenue picture is looking a
little better than in previous years. With that in mind, we’d
like to hear from persons as to which budget items should be the
first to be reinstated.”
Morgan said that the survey is a
“data point” for the Kershaw County School Board as it begins
its budget deliberations this spring. “We have done online
budget surveys in the past and found them to be a good way to
receive input from persons interested in expressing their
opinions.”
The survey contains over 30 items
that have been reduced or eliminated from the district’s general
fund in the past few years. Persons are asked to provide their
top three priority items. There is also a place to provide
additional comments.
Morgan said the survey will be
available at
www.kershaw.k12.sc.us until Feb. 3. Results of the survey
will be shared with the Kershaw County School Board and the
public.
